This is the chronicle par excellence of the ten days which changed the hopes of the working class all around the world: it had a mobilizing power unprecedented until that moment; the October Revolution, of whose magnitude even its own members were not aware of.
Ten days which startled the world is a touching and detailed narration of the days in which the Bolsheviks got the power of the State to put it in the Soviets´ hands. It is a text which goes beyond the journalistic task of a consecrated author like John Reed ( whose Insurgent Mexico had been read by revolutionary people all over the world). It has become the best testimony in the street of one of the most relevant historical events in the 20th century. Not in vain; Lenin himself recommended its reading, translation and publication fervently as an essential instrument to understand the nature of the proletarian revolution.
