The Portuguese doctor Sidonio Rosa arrives to the small town of Villa Cacimba, in Africa, searching the woman who left him without trace. The answer to his inquiries is on the hands of an elderly couple who needs his help: Mrs. Munda, a sorceress, and Bartolome Sozinho, an old, seriously ill sea-wolf. In this symbiotic relationship, finding out the truth about his love will become for the young doctor the search of a symptom, hidden in a tangle of lies, betrayals, challenges and half-truths, in which the reader will perceive gradually that nothing is what it looks like in the hazy African village.
