This is the story of the Indian called Jeronimo. He was called Goyahkla and lived wild and free in the land of his ancestors. One day, his family was massacred by the white man. Goyahkla lost his relatives : his mother, his wife, his children. The pain was immense. He gave up speaking and eating. Who can overcome such a situation ? He plotted the revenge. It was 30th September 1851, Saint Jeronimo´s day.
With a lot of respect, Pattrick Mosconi tells in this book the last and tragic epic of the txalaparta nation : the battles, carried out with energy and despair against the blue coats, the signed agreements..... the treasons. The government of the United States promised them a honourable peace and some lands in Florida. However, the reality, as Mosconi explains it, was other. Deported to Alabama and later to Oklahoma, the txalapartas were condemned to prison for the rest of their lives.
