The Kingdom of Castilla brought under its crown Araba, Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia, leaving Nafarroa without route to the sea for more than 800 years. This event, which no doubt deserves to be remembered, is attractive because of its actuality because it deals with two burning themes in the Basque conflict: that of its territoriality and its sovereignty. Since that event 800 years ago until our times, Euskal Herria has not known the unification of its territory.
For that reason, together with the past of Navarra, the book analyzes its present and future. In the first place, it offers a narration of historical events, continuing with the vision of historians and, finally, todays political leaders interpret the present.
This is the first book published in Euskera that aids in helping us understand the course that political history in Navarra has taken in later years and that takes a profound look at the debate that has come about concerning the recent appearance of other works about the history of the Kingdom of Navarra.
