Antonio Álvarez Solís

Antonio Alvarez-Solís. He was born on July 18, 1929 in Madrid, but he feels himself from Mieres (Asturias). He lived more than forty years in Catalonia, where his sons and grandchildren live nowadays. He studied Law at the universities of Barcelona and Santiago de Compostela and he began his professional life in La Vanguardia of Barcelona, where he came to editor-in-chief at the age of twenty-seven. He was also the founder director of Interviú and one of the founders of Por favor, whose page 3 signed up to the disappearance of the magazine. He founded and directed Economía Mediterranea and two magazines of gastronomy and tourism. As publishing adviser of the group Zeta, he collaborated in the start of El Periódico. He was employed several years at channel TVE with Maria Teresa Campos and he had his own spaces in the program. He took part in gatherings of several state and regional TV channels for several years and in radio stations like RNE, COPE, Onda Cero, Radio Miramar, SER… He has worked with Luis del Olmo, Iñaki Gabilondo, Carlos Herrera and others. Moreover, he is a regular lecturer at universities and civil centres. He has taken part in EITB and in Radio Euskadi in a continued way, where he gave up when political situation changed.
